Mr. Leland D. Whitelock, M.D.has practiced ophthalmology for over forty years in the Tidewater area, establishing a private practice in Norfolk in 1970. He attended the University of Maryland, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1957 and a Doctorate of Medicine in 1961. The post-doctoral study included a rotating internship and a residency in Ophthalmology at the United States Public Health Service Hospital in Baltimore, where he served as a commissioned officer until completion of formal training in 1967. From 1967 to 1970, Dr. Whitelock was head of the Department of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology at the United States Public Health Service in Norfolk, VA, becoming certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1969. Dr. Whitelock is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. He is also a member of the consulting staff of Sentara Norfolk General, Sentara Leigh and Chesapeake General hospitals. Dr. Whitelock has years of experience in glaucoma management and retina disease as well as special interest and training in the treatment and management of dry eyes.
